Another tradition we have is that we give our children an Advent Calendar. The calendar is used to count the days down until Christmas. Our children gladly open the hidden windows to find a chocolate a day until Christmas day. This is another tradition we bring from our German roots. Thank you Oma!

I used to sell those calendars in high school. From what I remember, it's not so much about the chocolate (I think it was actually American and not European chocolate) as it is about counting down the days to Christmas.
We get the calendar with some good chocolate in them, as Oma gets them from the German store in SLC. :D
